A very busy weekend past. This was the soda kiln at IUPUI. It fired off right before we loaded up the wood kiln making for a very long weekend with amazing results. Check out my Facebook page at TRCeramics for the results of this kiln.
Unloaded a wood firing today for IUPUI’s Herron ceramics students. A 22 hour train wood kiln firing that came out beautiful.
A good morning cup of coffee in a fantastic wood fired tea bowl. The tactile experience is great. The warm exterior, the satin ashed surface, the smooth glassy interior as I drink, and the undulating form. Surprisingly the lip is a bit thicker than expected but it’s a great experience to start the day.

Another good one, this foot displays the same cut out shape the rims of the plates have. It’s a total pain to do but it looks pretty nice.
This is one of the better ones… Although it is a Farley hidden foot it flows nicely up from the plate… It’s a definite maybe :-)
Foot number one is undercut and hides much of the foot. The issue I have here is that the bowl doesn’t seem to fill the plate… On to the next one
Dinner setting is coming together. I’ve been working on the feet of the bowls because they are very visible with these plates

It’s wood fire time again!!! We had a great firing and I’m hoping to post all of the pictures today the top temp was hot hot hot at 2389 degrees.
